Solta is an island in Croatia situated in the central Dalmatian archipelago. The economy of the island is based on vineyards, olives, fruit, fishing and tourism. ROGAC Rogac is the island’s main port located on north side of island Solta. It has been inhabitated since Roman times. From port there is path with much shade leads you around the bay to smaller coves with rocky beaches. If you go up the hill following the small road you will reach Grohote, the island’s administrative center where you can find the fruit and vegetable market, post office, pharmacy, supermarket and the butcher. Each medieval stone house was built from the island’s milky limestone, the stones streaked with seams like melted butter. STOMORSKA Stomorska is gorgeous village situated on the north-east side of the island Solta. Stomorska is famous for its old sailboats and there are about dozen of them. During the summer season there is good sheltered harbor popular for speed boats, sailing boats and yachts. The beaches are situated in the village and around it. Enjoy in walking on the long promenade along the sea. In Stomorska you can find several restaurants, pizza restaurant and wine cellars. If you are tennis lover in Stomorska you can find ground tennis courts with all the facilities. MASLINICA Maslinica is a settlement situated in the bay on the western part of the island of Solta. Maslinica was created in 1703 when an aristocratic family Marchi built a castle with towers for defense, after they got approval from Venetian authorities to build a tower, a village and a church above the bay of Maslinica. The castle is now converted into a very exclusive Martinis Marchi Heritage Hotel & Restaurant. Hotel has its own marina which is one of the nicest in Croatia where new yachts and sailboats arrive every day. With no modern beaches with accompanying contents, Maslinica is very attractive for those tourists who are looking for an absolute peace and quiet during the day and the night. Although in this bay you can find everything you need on holiday, beautiful beaches, crystal clear waters, lovely restaurants with local dishes and café bars.
